Stuart Barrow
With over a decade of experience “playing with fire” (pun fully intended), I’ve worked across a range of roles — from enforcing fire safety legislation within a Fire and Rescue Service to helping students stay safe in their accommodation (and avoid any accidental chaos).
For the past five years, I’ve led specialist teams delivering large-scale fire risk assessment programmes, helping organisations strengthen their safety culture and maintain compliance.
One of the highlights of my career was being recognised as a ‘Highly Commended Fire Safety Manager of the Year’ by the IFSM — an achievement I’m incredibly proud of.
Fire safety can sometimes feel like a bit of a dark art, but I’m passionate about making it accessible. I enjoy cutting through the jargon and giving people the knowledge and confidence to keep themselves, and those around them, safe. Combined with my interest in building safety, it’s what helps me sleep soundly at night.
Outside of work, you’ll find me buried in British Standards (highlighter close by), planning the next holiday, or experimenting in the kitchen, with varying degrees of success.
I’m also a big Formula 1 fan, and there’s an ongoing (and very serious) rivalry with my son over the who the best driver/team really is.
