Luke Jagger

I have 8 years experience in fire engineering and I am currently working towards my chartership through the Institute of Fire Engineers.

I completed my Masters in Chemical Engineering with Energy Engineering at Heriot Watt University. This gave me a strong grounding in thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid dynamics and gave me a good grounding in engineering fundamentals.

I have extensive experience across a wide range of projects both in the UK and internationally. This includes working with British Standards, NFPA documents and local fire codes in MENA and South-East Asia. I have experience of leading the Fire Engineering discipline for large scale projects, including airports, hospitals, rail infrastructure, commercial high-rise, residential high-risk buildings and more. Highlights of my career include developing the fire strategy for the New Phnom Penh International Airport,  Barwa Bank tower in Qatar, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham and a number of challenging cladding remediation projects.

As a fire engineer, I think taking a holistic approach and truly understanding the use cases of different approaches and methodologies is fundamental to delivering robust and effective fire strategies. I also love to work closely with our fire engineering team to mentor and develop junior employees and help them reach their professional development goals.

Outside of work, I am a frequent traveller, with a passion for good food and skiing. You’ll find me across the mountain on all pistes and in the bar at lunchtime and après ski for refreshments.
