Senior Director | Fire Engineering
London

Following a year-long sabbatical from the Fire Service, I was posted to the Fire Safety Team, where my aptitude for the discipline quickly became apparent. This experience inspired me to self-fund a degree in Fire Engineering, which I subsequently developed into a Master’s qualification and professional registration with the Engineering Council.

Since qualifying as a Fire Engineer, I have gained extensive experience in the review of Building Regulations consultations, alongside developing a comprehensive understanding of fire safety design guidance and the statutory consultation process. In this capacity, I have acted as a statutory consultee on a range of high-profile design and construction projects.

I have contributed to the advancement of fire engineering and the wider built environment through collaboration with technical committees, research institutions, and fire engineering consultancies. I am also an active volunteer with the Institution of Fire Engineers, regularly serving as an examination marker.

Having travelled to all seven continents and sampled a variety of extreme sports, I have shifted gears slightly. These days, I enjoy watching rugby (strictly from a safe distance), working on projects in my workshop, walking the South Downs, and sharing stories of past adventures with my family.
